Manocha Talks Robotics in Latest AAAS Newsletter
Dinesh Manocha, the Paul Chrisman Iribe Chair in the Department of Computer Science, was recently featured in the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) newsletter for his research in robotics and autonomous vehicle technology.
Last month, he exhibited three of his robots “rooted in Maryland lore” at the annual AAAS meeting in Washington D.C.
Click here to read Manocha’s interview with AAAS in which he discusses his background in robotics, what it’s like to teach the subject at UMD, and the future of robots and self-driving cars.
“You look at all aspects of your life—transportation, manufacturing, medicine, warehousing—robots are coming,” he says.
In addition to his appointment in computer science, Manocha has appointments in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS).
