Khuller Wins ESA Test of Time Award
Samir Khuller, the Elizabeth Stevinson Iribe Chair of Computer Science with an appointment in UMIACS, recently received the inaugural Test of Time Award from the Steering Committee of the European Symposium on Algorithms (ESA).
The ESA award identifies and celebrates “outstanding papers in algorithms research that were published in the ESA proceedings 19–21 years ago, and which are still influential and stimulating for the field today.”
Khuller was recognized for his paper, “Approximation Algorithms for Connected Dominating Sets,” published in 1996 with Sudipto Guha, an associate professor of computer and information science at the University of Pennsylvania.
The paper, together with its journal version, has garnered more than 1,200 citations, according to Google Scholar.
