Cukier, Plane Featured in Diamondback Article Highlighting Cybersecurity Workshop for Middle School Girls

Michel Cukier, Maryland Cybersecurity Center (MC2) associate director for education, and Jan Plane, director of the Maryland Center for Women in Computing, which is supported in part by UMIACS, were featured today in a Diamondback article highlighting the Nov. 12 Cool Careers in Cybersecurity for Girls Workshop.

MC2 and the Maryland Center for Women in Computing, through a partnership with the National CyberWatch Center K-12 division, hosted the annual event, which was intended to educate middle school girls about careers in cybersecurity.

“We put on multiple events because there is a shortage in the representation of women in this field,” Plane says. “It is an issue we are addressing in many ways.”
